Technical Design Assistant

A Day in the Life
The Technical Design Assistant will work closely with the Technical Designer home and apparel teams to support the execution of the technical development of Garnet Hill’s private label programs.
  • Assist with administrative responsibilities including the coordination of fit schedules and preparation of samples
  • Maintain timing and action calendar, including sample tracking and the PLM calendar
  • Coordinate size run evaluations for fit accuracy
  • Work with the Technical Designers and Merchants to translate product concepts into technical drawings
  • Communicate with factories and vendors to promote strong working relationships and ensure seasonal timeline compliance

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience in a technical design position
  • 1+ years proven success in a Technical Design Assistant or similar position with a leading upscale fashion brand, importer or retailer
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of product specifications, flat sketching, product fitting and sewing skills
  • High attention to detail and excellent follow through
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Nice to Haves
  • Experience in patternmaking
  • Experience with web-based PLM systems
